Position

Victoria is a Senior Counsel in Walkers’ Guernsey Employment Law Group.  Her employment law practice includes specialisms in data protection, executive exits and team moves and employment connected with regulated financial services business.

Victoria’s data protection work focuses on staff data (including data subject access requests and cross-border data transfers), frequently in the context of regulated industries, mergers & acquisitions and litigation.

Her practice relating to senior exits and team moves involves advising both employers and employees on contentious exits and enforcement of post termination restrictions as well as constructive and unfair dismissal.

Having worked as a commercial and fiduciary lawyer in London and Guernsey, and attaining STEP qualifications prior to specialising in employment work, Victoria has relevant experience of working within a regulated environment.

Victoria is a Guernsey Advocate and Notary Public and also advises on housing and immigration matters.

Career

Victoria trained as a Solicitor of England & Wales with DLA (now DLA Piper) in London before returning to Guernsey. She was admitted as a Guernsey Advocate in 2005 and as a Notary Public in 2011.

She worked as a trusts and corporate lawyer with another Guernsey law firm before joining Walkers predecessor firm in 2013, and has been a dedicated employment law specialist since 2015.

Working on a pan-Channel Island basis, Walkers handles the gamut of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including employee exits, grievances, misconduct and M&A-related issues, among others. The firm has also been tasked with providing training on Guernsey’s new Discrimination Ordinance in the lead up to its entry into force in October 2023. Heading the practice is Sarah Ash, whose work covers the full spectrum of employment matters. Senior counsel Victoria Pratt handles matters relating to data protection, while associate Jenny Brunton represents clients involved in tribunal hearings and advises on staff policies. The firm strengthened its employment team with the additions of Danielle Brouard from Collas Crill in April 2022, and Devon Jenkins from ENSafrica in September 2022.
