Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP’s pharmaceutical and medical device practice is headed by Alicia Donahue in San Francisco and handles sector-related product liability litigation, class actions and mass torts. In one highlight, Miami-based Daniel Rogers and William Geraghty acted as co-counsel to Amgen, Pfizer and Wyeth in litigation concerning its biologic drug Enbrel, involving claims alleging failure to warn; in 2018, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed summary judgment in favor of the manufacturers. In other work, Houston-based James Shepherd successfully represented Bayer on appeal and in district court in relation to the Mirena IUD MDL. Together with Kansas City-based Jon Strongman, Rogers also defended Boston Scientific in transvaginal surgical mesh litigation, in which the plaintiff alleged failure to warn. Johnson & Johnson, Allergan and Bausch & Lomb are also clients of the firm.
