The 'personable' lawyers at White & Case LLP 'are extremely capable, react quickly and have a deep understanding of the commercial drivers of a transaction'. A team led by Rebecca Campbell and corporate specialist Allan Taylor recently acted for Pallinghurst in its £211m hostile takeover offer for Gemfields, and Peter Finlay - who 'gets to the heart of a problem very quickly' - advised a group of lenders on the multi-million dollar financing of the Sangaredi bauxite mine expansion in the Republic of Guinea. Contentious highlights include Charles Balmain 's counsel to a global mine company with regards to a tax indemnity claim under its SPA for the purchase of a copper project in South America. Also notable is the IPO of Russian energy group EN+ which was complicated by sanctions imposed on a number of entities and individuals involved.
