Career

Ms. Gabel delivers strategic, client-focused legal solutions, using her insight gleaned from previously serving as the head labor and employment and litigation attorney at Alaska Airlines, Inc. and Horizon Air Industries, Inc. for several years.

Ms. Gabel represents clients in numerous industries, including air transportation, hospitality, health care, retail and e-commerce, manufacturing, trucking, media, entertainment, construction, and mining. Her experience includes advising on, negotiating, and litigating matters covered by the Railway Labor Act and the National Labor Relations Act, including collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, withdrawal liability arbitrations, interest arbitrations, union organizing, and corporate campaigns.

With significant in-house and outside counsel experience for air carriers in particular, Ms. Gabel understands the complexity of an airline’s business and the importance of maintaining good labor relations with an airline’s employees and union leaders. She has advised on, managed, and handled every aspect of labor and employment law that an air carrier faces, including preemption litigation, wage-hour class actions and PAGA lawsuits, USERRA class actions, lawsuits and charges related to discrimination and leaves of absence, AIR21 charges, labor contract negotiations, merger and acquisition-related advice and counseling, interest arbitrations, contract interpretation arbitrations, discharge arbitrations, labor disruption counseling and contingency planning, union organizing campaigns and representation elections, employment law compliance advice, and transactional benefits matters.
