Position

Jedd H. Wider is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and a member of the firm’s Private Investment Funds Practice. Mr. Wider concentrates his practice in the structuring and formation of and investment in international and domestic private investment funds, particularly global hedge funds, private equity funds, secondary funds, real estate funds, mezzanine debt funds, venture capital funds and funds-of-funds and in the subsequent representation of these funds in their investment activities. He represents many of the world's leading financial institutions and investment banks as well as financial boutiques in their roles as sponsors, placement agents, and investment entities. Mr. Wider's views on the hedge fund and private equity fund industries and capital markets are frequently sought by members of the international media. Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP's 'strong' team houses 'excellent lawyers'; the group has been kept busy with funds-of-one work as well as fund formation mandates and regulatory matters. Jedd Wider and Christopher Dlutowski, both based in New York, continue to advise the California Public Employees’ Retirement Scheme (CalPERS), most recently on the formation and launch of a fund-of-one. In the Boston office, Stephen Tirrell advised Mariner Investment Group on forming a fund with a key focus on the mortgage-backed security (MBS) markets, while Richard Goldman advised Innocap Investment Management, a Canadian hedge fund manager, on forming a number of private funds for a Canadian pension plan; Steven Giordano is also a key name. In Miami, Ethan Johnson advised HODL Investments on the formation of a cryptocurrency fund, and assisted Dragon Capital with forming a fund for investing in exchange-listed securities in Vietnam. Wider and Goldman jointly lead the practice.
