Career

Juan Carlos has been part of Mayora & Mayora since 2008. He has developed his professional and academic expertise in the area of tax law, a discipline in which he obtained a master’s degree from the International Tax Centre of the University of Leiden in 2014.

His professional practice focuses on transactional and tax advice to local and foreign entities, as well as on administrative law and public procurement matters. He also develops foreign investment policies for international clients, with emphasis on tax structures, energy matters, identification of rights of way and real estate analysis for project implementation.

As part of his training, he completed an internship at Houthoff Buruma, a law firm in Amsterdam, in the Financial Markets Regulation practice group, an opportunity that allowed him to gain knowledge and experience in cross-border tax analysis.

He also holds a Diploma in the Guatemalan Electricity Market and the Regional Electricity Market.
