Position

Fergus Wheeler focuses on private credit and other debt finance transactions in the leveraged finance space. His experience in leveraged finance spans over 15 years. He works with many of the most active private credit investors, and has been at the forefront of legal developments in that asset class for more than a decade. He advises international private credit funds and a range of alternative capital providers investing across the capital structure in both performing and stressed or distressed situations. Fergus is widely recognized in the market as one of the leading holdco financing lawyers, having advised on multiple holdco PIK, preferred equity and complex back leverage transactions over the past decade.

The arrival of private credit expert Fergus Wheeler  from White & Case LLP in March 2023 has hugely enhanced Akin‘s potential in the leveraged finance space as well as on the special situations front, where he can effectively leverage the firm’s market-leading restructuring practice.
