Alan is a partner and head of Campbells' Corporate Department where he specialises in the establishment of venture capital funds and related investment vehicles, and the structuring and licensing of insurance companies. His practice also includes advising on cross-border corporate finance and M&A transactions. Alan was admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands in 1999 and joined Campbells in 2009.

His areas of expertise include: investment funds, insurance, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets and securitisation transactions.

Alan is recognised as having particular experience in the establishment of venture capital funds and related investment vehicles, and the structuring and licensing of insurance companies.

Campbells' insurance practice is led by 'experienced and intelligent' corporate head Alan Craig. The practice works with the leading insurance managers in the Cayman Islands (Cayman) on the formation, licensing and ongoing operation of a large proportion of the captive insurance entities that are established in Cayman, which involves advising on the establishment and operation of single parent captives, group captives, agency captives and segregated portfolio structures that insure a wide range of risks. It advised Eastern Alliance Insurance Group, which expanded its Cayman presence by establishing Inova Re (a segregated portfolio company licensed as a Class B insurer), on constitutional documents for the new company as well as on the licensing process. Alistair Walters is recommended for insurance litigation; Walters' clients include large insurance carriers, Cayman government agencies, worldwide P&I clubs and various Lloyd’s syndicates.

Campbells advises on the structuring, formation and launch of a wide range of investment funds, including hedge, venture capital, private equity and hybrid funds. The team acted as Cayman Islands legal counsel on establishing GenBridge Capital I and other related entities. Alan Craig has a significant private equity and venture capital practice, and advises some of the world’s largest funds managers on the capital raising process. The other key practitioners are Simon Thomas and Richard Spencer.
