Position

Ben is an Advocate and Senior Associate in our Guernsey Corporate, Finance and Funds team.

Ben advises on all aspects of commercial law with a particular focus on banking and finance (including real estate finance, Islamic finance and fund finance), mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.  Ben regularly works with our BVI, Cayman and Jersey corporate and trust teams on cross-jurisdictional finance, corporate and trust matters.

Ben also assists the Corporate, Finance and Funds team in their other core areas including funds, data protection and risk and regulatory.

Career

Ben first joined Collas Crill as a paralegal and went on to train with the firm, qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales in September 2017.

During his training contract Ben undertook a three month secondment to CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP in London in their Banking and International Finance team. During his time at CMS, Ben worked primarily on the acquisition, development, restructuring and financing of projects in the real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources sectors.

Ben read law at the University of Bristol, graduating with First Class Honours, and went on to complete his Legal Practice Course at BPP University Law School.

He was promoted to Senior Associate in August 2022 and was admitted to the Guernsey Bar in December 2022.

Ben Le Page – Collas Crill

Collas Crill offers its clients multi-faceted banking and finance expertise, advising funds and family offices on financing matters in addition to its core specialisms of real estate and Sharia-compliant financing. Wayne Atkinson heads the practice, supporting lenders and borrowers involved in major commercial real estate transactions. Simon Heggs‘ broad practice encompasses real estate and fund financing, while Ben Le Page, promoted to senior associate in August 2022, is noted for his lender-side work, with further expertise in Islamic finance. Senior associate Ian Petherbridge joined the team from Eversheds Sutherland’s Durban office in March 2022, strengthening the firm’s project finance offering.

The ‘strong skillset and knowledge’ of the Collas Crill team allows it to assist with a range of advisory, transactional and regulatory matters, particularly in regulated sectors, including the medicinal cannabis and mining industries. Practice head Wayne Atkinson ‘thinks outside of the box’ when advising companies on regulations affecting their operations, and also regularly assists with M&A deals. Consultant Paul Wilkes specialises in investment fund transactions, while Simon Heggs is noted for his listed M&A practice.
