Trusts and Private Wealth

Position

Katie is a senior associate in Carey Olsen’s trusts and private wealth team in the Cayman Islands.

Katie is a qualified Trusts and Estate Practitioner with a strong foundation in traditional private client work. She advises HNW and UHNW individuals, trustees and executors across the spectrum of contentious and non-contentious wills, trusts and estates.

Katie has a particular interest in matters where dispute resolution and advisory work intersect, for example advising on the construction of testamentary documents to enable executors to properly discharge their duties or drawing on litigation experience to draft documents which help minimise the risk of claims from disappointed will or trust beneficiaries.

Career

Prior to joining Carey Olsen in September 2023, Katie trained at London law firm Wedlake Bell LLP and qualified into the Private Client team in September 2016, building a hybrid contentious/non-contentious practice.

Katie is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) having completed her diploma in 2019 and is a member of the Contentious Trusts and Estates Special Interest Group. Katie is also an active member of the Contentious Trusts Association (ConTrA).

Katie read Law at the University of Bristol and graduated in 2011. She completed the Legal Practice Course at College of Law in Bristol in 2014.
