Position

Marc is sector lead for owner managed businesses in Leeds and provides a wide range of advice in relation to corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, MBOs, finance, investments and general company law matters.

In addition to being sector lead Marc also heads up our franchising team, having completed almost 100 franchise-related M&A deals over the last five years. In addition to working for a national law firm, Marc also spent over four years working in-house for a listed company.

Marc’s main clients are owner-managed businesses, however, he also works for a number of larger businesses and PLCs.

With a strong emphasis on building solid relationships with clients, Marc’s focus is on providing specialist value-added advice, in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with regular and clear communications with clients.

Weightmans corporate team, led by Duncan Reid, is known for providing ‘exceptional business advice against a backdrop of solid commercial knowledge’. Reid advises clients, including private equity companies, on investments involving debt and equity, with Paul Wigham also a key name to note in this space. Reid and Wigham not only advice investors but also support target companies of investments. Kirsty Adamson and recent arrival Eleanor Baird support at principal associate level, while associate Nick Gray is also a key figure. The Newcastle team regularly work with Marc Allison, who relocated from Newcastle to Leeds.

The group is frequently called upon to advise on complex tech and IT disputes, particularly on distressed IT implementation projects. Paul Wigham heads up the team which regularly acts for venture capitalists and accelerator programmes focused on technology businesses. Duncan Reid specialises in corporate transactions, including acquisitions and disposals, as well as private equity transactions. Recently, the group has seen an uptick in cyber security related advice. Marc Allison and Christopher Graham are also noted.
