Career

Ian is Managing Partner and is recognised as one of the leading corporate lawyers in the region, known for his “down to earth” approach and his knack of developing “compromises to suit all parties”. Ian has over 30 years’ experience and advises a broad spectrum of corporate clients from major plcs to start up companies and private individuals, on such matters as MBOs, secondary buy-outs, fundraisings, acquisitions, IPOs, joint ventures and disposals. He particularly enjoys complex multi-party matters which require innovative solutions to be found and carefully considered negotiation strategies. In Chambers Legal Directory Ian is described as being “one of the driving forces behind the practice”.

Ian is used by a number of clients as “trusted counsel” but still thrives on getting heavily involved in transactions.  Ian advised management on the sale of two healthcare groups: the £375m sale of Voyage Care Group to Duke Street and Partners Group and the US$ 335m sale of Cygnet Healthcare to United Healthcare Services.
