Position

Stuart is a Principal Lawyer specialising in personal injury claims and has personal responsibility for the day to day operation and performance of the Edinburgh Office.

Stuart is experienced in handling a wide variety of personal injury claims, including spinal injury, brain injury, fatal accident claims, serious orthopaedic injury, employers’ liability, public liability and Disease cases. He has extensive experience in settling high value complex claims within his field.

Career

Stuart qualified in 1994. He became a Partner at  Russell Jones and Walker in 2005 and a Principal Lawyer at Slater and Gordon in 2012.

Slater and Gordon handles a variety of claims, including spinal injuries, brain injuries, accidents at work, industrial disease, road traffic accidents and public liability. In addition to private client work, the group also handles personal injury work for a number of trade union clients, including the Scottish Police Federation, PCS Trade Union, Cycling UK and the FDA Trade Union. Practice head Stuart Cochran acts for the family of John Cousin, who was killed during the construction of the Queensferry Crossing, in a civil claim, having previously represented the clients at a fatal accident inquiry into the event.
