Andrea specialises in both children law and matrimonial and cohabitation law. She is experienced in financial relief arising from a breakdown of a relationship.
Andrea is a keen and successful advocate undertaking cases involving Children Act proceedings in the Family Proceedings Courts; County Courts and High Court. She is known for her sensitivity and commitment to her cases, often advocating on behalf of vulnerable adults and older children. Andrea is a Member of the Law Society Children Panel and a Legal Aid Agency Supervisor. Andrea represents children and adult parties to care and private law proceedings under the Children Act.
She is a former member of the Law Society’s Mental Health review tribunal panel representing clients who were detained under the Mental Health Act seeking discharge from detention or other improvement in their circumstances whilst detained. Andrea developed a particular interest in mental health and its impact on parents, writing a paper as part of her LLM. She maintains an interest in mental health law and practice although no longer a member of the Law Society’s accredited panel.
As a trainee solicitor, Andrea provided voluntary work at a local law centre in south London initially providing advice in women-only sessions. Over the years, this voluntary work expanded to providing advice and assistance to all individuals in a family setting. Stemming from work as a volunteer legal adviser and then chair of the management committee at the Law Centre, she has also developed an interest and continues to represent deaf clients in family matters.
