Career
Saqib specializes in banking and finance, corporate, regulatory and public procurement, and is also involved in our litigation group. He carries out both contentious and non-contentious work for clients.
Saqib has more than 18 years of experience in the legal sector. He began his legal career in 2002. After two years of civil and commercial litigation experience, he joined a renowned Pakistani law firm from where he resigned as a partner in 2021 to establish the firm.
Saqib specializes in complex private and public mergers and acquisitions, as well as banking and finance transactions involving international corporate clients and financial institutions. He is recognized as a leading corporate, finance and investment lawyer in Pakistan, having worked on a number of preeminent and high-profile transactions such as the biggest foreign investment in the history of Pakistan and the issue of trust certificates by the Government of Pakistan valuing in aggregate more than USD 1.5 billion.
Saqib has significant experience in Pakistani corporate and commercial laws and is a specialist in cross-border commercial transactions, including restructurings, acquisitions, joint ventures, business alliances, foreign portfolio investments, private equity investments and exits, insolvency, infrastructure and project finance, and real estate property transactions.
Saqib regularly advises and represents bidders in tender proceedings, including before grievance redressal committees and before high courts. He also advises clients in intensively regulated industries such as banking, oil and gas, power (including renewables), insurance, telecommunications, and life sciences on all areas of regulatory law and its enforcement before public authorities and high courts.
Saqib has significant litigation experience. He frequently advises foreign clients on litigation matters before courts in Pakistan as well as in court as well as arbitration proceedings abroad on matters governed by Pakistani law. He has appeared before the Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Sindh High Courts.
Saqib is a frequent author and has contributed to magazines and international publications on mergers and acquisition, enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and doing business in Pakistan.
