Career

Karl Pörnbacher heads the firm’s International Arbitration team in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe and advises and represents clients in national and multinational alternative dispute resolution proceedings (arbitration, mediation, adjudication) with wide experience in the  automotive, life science, energy  and infrastructure sector and M&A disputes. He has represented clients in more than 90 domestic and international arbitration proceedings and mediations and has been appointed in more than 60 proceedings as an arbitrator, both as chair/sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator. He has acted under various rules, like UNCITRAL Rules, LCIA, ICC, VIAC, Swiss Rules, Polish Chamber of Commerce, DIS, or ad hoc proceedings. Karl worked for several years in Poland and is frequently involved in cross-border disputes involving Poland and countries from other Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region.
