Position

Suzanne White is head of the clinical negligence team and has specialised in this area of law since qualifying in 1999 after training with the firm. 

 

She is a patients’ campaigner, with a particular interest in birth injury, and injuries to mothers during childbirth. She also specialises in orthopaedics, brain injury, misdiagnosis and fatal cases, and cases involving radiological errors, but also advising on a full range of clinical negligence cases.

 

Suzanne was also the inquest partner at Leigh Day representing families at inquests where loved ones have died as a result of negligent medical care. 

Career

She brings to her experience a medical background, as she qualified as a radiographer, she quickly grasps the medical issues in the cases she deals with. Suzanne trained at Leigh Day and made partner in 2010. Suzanne has been head of the clinical negligence department since 1st April 2018.

Memberships

Suzanne is on the APIL executive committee, is a trustee for the Patients’ Association and was a member of the Civil Justice Council’s working group for fixed costs. She is a member of the INQUEST lawyers group and on the MASIC council.

Suzanne White leads the team at Leigh Day, specialising in catastrophic injury work including birth injuries, as well as women’s rights in healthcare. Emmalene Bushnell acts for adult clients, in particular those claims involving cerebral palsy and brain injury, while Maria Panteli has extensive experience in delayed diagnosis claims. ‘Supremely experienced, hardworking and attuned to the needs of their clients‘, the team has established significant maternity care expertise – an area in which Sanja Strkljevic specialises. A number of the team members have medical experience, including former registered nurse Olive Lewin, whose caseload includes complex claims involving endocarditis, spinal cord injury and maternal death. The team also has a dedicated inquest specialist in senior associate Fiona Huddleston. Despina Kavadas rounds out the roster of recommended practitioners.
