Career

Natalia has over 23 years’ legal practice in capital markets, including 12 years at the Bulgarian Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) where she occupied a number of legal positions, including Head of Enforcement Department. During her career at the FSC Natalia was involved in various areas of capital markets and insurance supervision.

Prior to joining STZ Natalia worked for almost 7 years at DTT (Dimitrov Tchompalov & Todorova) as a capital markets lawyer. She has worked with clients across the financial services and asset management sector on all aspects of securities law including amongst others in licensing and approval procedures, notifications, disclosure, conflicts of interest, capital adequacy, portfolio restrictions.

Natalia specializes in financial services, regulatory and administrative, investment funds, litigation. She has significant experience representing clients in responding to inquiries and formal investigations by regulators, more specifically, the FSC. Her previous service at that authority enables her to offer practical advice in formulating a strategy for responding to investigations.

Natalia has achieved remarkable results in challenging before court numerous penalty acts and coercive administrative measures issued by the FSC and other authorities. During the last three years she represented listed companies, investment firms and management companies, as well as their directors and controlling shareholders in more than 100 court cases vs the FSC related to various capital market disputes (infringement of disclosure and MIFID rules, market abuse, etc.).
