Career

Mikel commenced his professional experience working for the law firm Bufete Berenguer Comas Abogados (2000). Later, in the year 2001, he joined the law firm Fernando Meana Green & Co., where he worked for 14 years until he became Partner of Aiyon Abogados S.L.P. in 2015.
During his professional practice Mikel has acquired a great court and out of court experience advising national and international clients in a broad amount of cases within the maritime and transport law, law of insurance and international trade law. In particular, dealing with cargo claims (B/L or CMR), charterparty claims, marine insurance, collective insurance and civil liability insurance claims, salvage, collisions, piracy, ship arrest and cargo attachment, marine pollution, governmental sanctioning proceedings, stevedores damages, marine labour disputes, drafting and revising contracts (marine services contracts, agency contracts, shipbuilding contracts, general conditions, international sale contracts, letters of credit.
He has further adviced clients on recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments or arbitration awards.
Mikel is Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic for Basque Country and Navarre (2013).

Education

Mikel holds a Law Degree from the University of the Basque Country (1999) and an LL.M. Degree in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton (U.K., 2000). He participated in the Port Companies Management Course offered by Deusto University (2001).
