Position

Head of the Dispute Resolution Department

Career

Simon qualified in 2003 and specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

Simon advises and represents individuals and business clients from all sectors from manufacturing to farming, and from owner – manager businesses to multi-national businesses, on the full spectrum of commercial disputes. He has gained a wide experience in helping clients resolve disputes in many areas including:

  • Partnership disputes;
  • Shareholder disputes;
  • Disputes in relation to corporate governance including advising on directors’ duties;
  • Breach of warranty claims;
  • Contractual disputes;
  • Negligence claims including negligence claims against professionals;
  • Building disputes;
  • Intellectual property disputes; and
  • Constructive trust and proprietary estoppel claims.

In additional to his litigation work he provides advice to businesses and individuals on all types of employment-related matters including in relation to contracts of employment, policies and procedures, unfair and wrongful dismissal claims, and business sales.

A good proportion of Simon’s work takes place before court (or tribunal proceedings) have been issued, where there is the opportunity for resolution to be achieved without the need for issued legal proceedings. He’s an advocate of and experienced in negotiation as well as other alternative forms of dispute resolution, such as mediation.

Leisure

Outside of work Simon enjoys a variety of outdoor activities with his family and he’s a keen cyclist.
