Career

Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht is a partner at AKD who specialises in intellectual property law. He advises and represents national and international clients in cases relating to copyright law, design law, trademark law, trade name law, advertising law and unfair competition. As an experienced litigator Roderick regularly litigates in infringement cases before courts and courts of appeal and in arbitration proceedings.

He also advises on brand development, product design and intellectual property agreements, such as licences, assignments, and distribution. In his practice Roderick assists companies which are active in, for example, the fields of retail and the production and marketing of consumer products. This means fashion, foodstuffs and household products. In addition to advising and litigating, Roderick is doing a PhD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where he is researching trade name law. On top of that Roderick regularly lectures and publishes on various subjects in the field of intellectual property law.

Roderick is a member of the AIPPI/VIE (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intelectuelle/International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), the BMM (Benelux Association of Trademark and Design Law) and the editorial board of IE-Forum.nl
