Kobie began his career in the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, serving as a civil rights prosecutor in the Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division, where he specialized in prosecuting police brutality cases. He later served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Maryland, successfully defending individuals charged with serious federal offenses and securing an exceptional record of trial victories and dismissals. Kobie is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with more than 25 years of courtroom experience in federal and state courts across the United States, as well as before the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay.
