Career

Kobie is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with more than 25 years of courtroom experience in federal and state courts across the United States, as well as before the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay. He represents clients in high-stakes criminal investigations, civil litigation, internal investigations, and trials, and is widely respected for his trial acumen, regularly teaching trial advocacy to lawyers nationwide.

Kobie began his career in the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, serving as a civil rights prosecutor in the Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division, where he specialized in prosecuting police brutality cases. He later served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Maryland, successfully defending individuals charged with serious federal offenses and securing an exceptional record of trial victories and dismissals. Kobie is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with more than 25 years of courtroom experience in federal and state courts across the United States, as well as before the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay. As co-founder of Flowers Keller LLP, Kobie brings a lifelong commitment to challenging wrongful convictions and ending mass incarceration. He has led some of the most significant cases in the country, including securing the largest wrongful conviction settlement in U.S. history on behalf of the “Harlem Park Three,” and representing clients in landmark criminal and civil rights matters nationwide.
