Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP represents plaintiffs and defendants at all key litigation venues, especially the PTAB and ITC. The practice specifically excels at post-grant and appellate proceedings, with cases spanning the tech and life sciences sectors. Michael Abernathy and Krista Vink Venegas co-lead the IP life sciences disputes team out of Chicago. Abernathy is well-equipped to handle business-critical life science patent disputes, with notable experience in Hatch-Waxman cases. Venegas is well-regarded for her experience managing patent infringement and trade secret appropriation cases. Three seasoned patent litigators co-lead the firm’s IP technology disputes practice; Jason White, in Chicago, who tackles utility and design patents; John Gorman, who manages high-stakes cases through all phases of litigation including trial and post-trial appeals, splitting his time between Wilmington and Philadelphia; and  Michael Lyons, in Silicon Valley, who also focuses on high-technology patents. Brent Hawkins, operating out of San Francisco and Chicago, further strengthens the team with his expertise in patent litigation related to the tech, automotive and consumer product sectors. Sarah Guske joined the practice from Baker Botts L.L.P. in October 2024.
