Career

Ricardo is the partner who heads the EU and Competition law practice. He has 25 years’ experience in European law and competition and has focused on defending companies in cartel cases and cases of abuse of a dominant position. Ricardo also specialises in competition litigation, merger control, state aid, implementation of compliance programmes, and EU law and litigation.

He has particular experience in the areas of consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, financial services, insurance, transport, energy and media, and his clients include some of the leading international companies in these industries.

Ricardo has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and an LLM in European law from the College of Europe in Bruges.

Before joining PLMJ, Ricardo worked in the office of the President of the General Court of the European Union in Luxembourg, and at the European Commission in Brussels.
