Senior associate

João is a senior associate in the European and Competition practice. He has 7 years of experience advising clients on Portuguese and European competition law, restrictive practices, abuse of dominant position, compliance programmes and state aid. He has particular experience in administrative offences and private enforcement.

With a postgraduate qualification in European Union Competition Law from King's College, João also completed a postgraduate course in competition and regulation at IDEFF - University of Lisbon Law School. He holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and a master's degree in legal and criminal sciences from the same faculty. João is the author of several legal articles in Portuguese and international publications.

In 2022, he worked as an adviser to the Secretary of State for Tourism, Trade and Services in the 23rd Constitutional Government.
