Career

Catherine Derrig graduated from University College Dublin (BBLS) in 2001 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2006. She joined the McCann FitzGerald LLP in 2003 and became a Partner in the firm in 2014. She is an experienced litigator who advises both public and private sector clients on a wide range of complex commercial and regulatory disputes. Many of her cases involve more than one jurisdiction, and she works closely with international legal teams. Catherine has particular experience in the banking and financial services, insurance, communications, healthcare, energy and aviation sectors.

She advises companies, financial institutions and insurers on commercial and shareholder disputes, as well as disputes with customers and intermediaries. Catherine also has significant experience handling complex professional negligence claims, acting for both professionals and their insurers. In addition, she advises regulators on their statutory duties, decision-making processes, appeals, judicial reviews and enforcement actions. She also represents organisations facing regulatory investigations and supports clients conducting internal investigations, from business ethics reviews to regulatory inquiries into suspected unlawful conduct. Catherine further advises clients on responding to dawn raids across a range of industries.
