Undoubtedly the dominant force in Argentina IP matters, Marval O’Farrell Mairal demonstrates equal strength across patents, trade marks and IP litigation and enforcement. The practice handles an unmatched volume of patent applications (across the pharma, biotech, chemistry, mechanical and telecoms industries); manages some 48,500 trade marks; and has developed an equally robust prosecution and litigation capability, furher backed by strong enforcement -and indeed criminal law- capability. It is also a leader in copyright matters. The team - almost 40 lawyers strong - is led by a trio of senior practitioners: trademark specialist Iris Quadrio (trade mark and trade dress issues, including IP rights clearance, registration and management of IP portfolios); patents lawyer Martín Bensadon (particularly patent filing strategies in Argentina and other Latin American countries, along with complex patent litigation); and IP litigator Gustavo Giay (trade mark litigation, anti-counterfeiting, and enforcemnt, along with copright and IT law). Manuela Adrogué is a key name for software commercialisation and copyright protection, while litigator Martín Chajchir handles domain name recovery and out-of-court settlements. Additional partner-level talent includes Sergio Ellmann, who focuses on trademark portfolio management and trade mark filings; Ignacio Sánchez Echagüe, who deals with patent filing and litigation; and IP and internet lawyer Diego Fernández, who advises on licensing agreements. Position

Martin Chajchir joined Marval in 2002 and became a partner in 2013. He specializes in Intellectual Property litigation, with a focus on trademarks, domain names, and industrial models and designs. His areas of practice include IP enforcement and anticounterfeiting ─with broad experience in preliminary injunctions and attachment and seizure measures─, general IP litigation, domain name recovery, and out-of-court claims. He represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the PTO and the Federal Courts. Additionally, he has extensive experience in pre-trial mediation proceedings, conducting negotiations and drafting settlement agreements.

Martin graduated from the Universidad de Belgrano Law School in 2000, completed post-graduate courses on Patent Law and IP Licensing at the Universidad Austral, and later became a certified IP agent.
