Final rule takes effect on March 8 and makes changes to model certification forms, intermittent leave, exigency and military caregiver leave, and flight crew rules.

On February 6, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published a final rule1 (Final Rule) that (1) amends the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) regulations addressing the coverage of military caregiver and exigency leaves and (2) revamps eligibility requirements for certain airline industry employees. While the Final Rule will require some changes to most employers' written FMLA policies and forms, it should not bring about substantial changes to the way most employers administer military caregiver and exigency leaves.
