México y Malta son de los primeros países a nivel mundial en emitir un marco legal enfocado a temas para regular el sector Fintech.

Malta es el primer estado miembro de la Unión Europea y uno de los primeros países a nivel mundial en emitir un marco legal completo enfocado en blockchain, el cual consiste en un sistema digital para registrar la transacción de activos y sus detalles en múltiples lugares al mismo tiempo, criptodivisas, ICO's y proveedores de servicios relacionados, lo cual ha llevado a Malta a ser conocida como "La Isla del Blockchain".

El pasado julio de 2018, fueron aprobados por el gobierno de la República de Malta diversos proyectos de ley, entrando en vigencia el 1 de noviembre, y consistentes en una Ley de la Innovación Digital, Ley de Arreglos y Servicios Tecnológicos y Ley de Activos Financieros Virtuales.
