On April 21, the United Commissions of Government and
Legislative Studies of the Mexican Senate approved the General Data Protection Law Held by Regulated
Subjects (source document in Spanish). The law will regulate
the processing of personal data by all agencies of the executive,
legislative, and judicial branches of the government that
previously did not have a regulatory framework on the processing of
personal data. The right to the protection of personal data will be
limited only for reasons of national security, public order
provisions, public health and safety, or to protect third-party
rights.
