El pasado 8 de marzo de 2018, en Santiago de Chile, se llevó a cabo la ceremonia de firma del Tratado Integral y Progresista de Asociación Transpacífico (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, CPTPP, por sus siglas en inglés o también conocido como TPP-11).

Son países parte del CPTPP México, Australia, Brunéi, Canadá, Chile, Japón, Malasia, Nueva Zelandia, Perú, Singapur y Vietnam.

El Acuerdo en comento incorpora el contenido del TPP original, cuyo texto no sufrió cambio alguno, con excepción de una lista de 22 disposiciones que quedarán suspendidas derivado de la denuncia de EE.UU.

Cuando el CPTPP entre en vigor, eliminará entre 65% y 100% del universo arancelario de los países miembros, lo cual crea un mercado de 498 millones de personas (alrededor del 15% del comercio mundial, y $10 trillones de dólares).
