The proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on a pilot regime for market infrastructures based on distributed ledger technology ("DLT") (the "DLT Pilot Regime" or the "Regulation")2 was published as part of the digital finance package adopted by the European Commission on 24 September 2020 (the "Digital Finance Package"). The DLT Pilot Regime is at a more advanced stage compared to the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on markets in crypto-assets and amending Directive (EU) 2019/19373 ("MiCA")4, which was also published as part of the Digital Finance Package, since amendments to the initial proposal have been voted by the European Parliament and published on 5 August 2021.
