Patents - Common Pitfalls And How To Avoid Them – Chapter I

In our many years of activity as consultants, we have often come across prejudices and wrong beliefs about patents which in many cases caused or risked causing, if not remedied in time, even serious consequences such as, but not limited to, the loss of monopoly rights on a potentially valid invention and the often-unintentional infringement of others' rights. We will therefore report in this article, and in the two that will follow, some of the most common pitfalls that we observed, trying as much as possible to give brief indications or guidelines to try to avoid them, without claiming to be exhaustive, but at least in the hope of raising red flags among those who will find themselves faced with situations in which, for non-experts, it is easy to make mistakes.
