In January 2023, the Union Cabinet approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an initial outlay of INR 19,744 crore (Indian Rupees nineteen thousand seven hundred and forty-four crore), allocating funds for various components including the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition ("SIGHT") Programme ("SIGHT Programme"), pilot projects, research and development, and other mission components. The SIGHT Programme proposes 2 (two) distinct financial incentive mechanisms to support domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and production of Green Hydrogen.

Building on this, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy ("MNRE"), on July 3, 2024, issued the 'Scheme Guidelines for implementation of Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme – Component II: Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production (under Mode 1) Tranche – II' ("Scheme"). The Supreme Court Of India Clarifies: Order II Rule 2 Of The Code Of Civil Procedure, 1908 Cannot Be A Ground For Rejection Of Plaint Under Order VII Rule 11(D) Of The Code Of Civil Procedure, 1908

Ramanathan and Anr. recently held that Order II Rule 2, Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (“CPC”) cannot constitute a ground for rejection of plaint under Order VII Rule 11(d) of the CPC. The Supreme Court drew a critical distinction between the two provisions clarifying that while Order II Rule 2 curtails the right to sue for certain claims or reliefs, but it does not bar filing of a suit under Order VII Rule 11(d) of the CPC.
