Australia: Subclass 400 visas - restrictions by the Australian government

The Australian government has restricted the regulations for subclass 400 visas. Recently, caseworkers will now scrutinize applications more closely if the length of stay exceeds three months within a given 12-month period.

While the Subclass 400 visa allows a stay of up to six months, under the new changes the holder will only be expected to stay in the country for three months or less unless a convincing business case can be made. However, if the applicant has previously held a subclass 400 visa in any twelve-month period and applies for another subclass 400 visa, the authorities may consider granting the remaining balance of the normal three-month period of stay.
