Prioritized visa processing for earthquake victims from Turkey and Syria ends

In February 2023, devastating earthquakes hit certain areas in Turkey and Syria. To enable the victims of these natural disasters to quickly find accommodation with close relatives in Switzerland, the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, decided to prioritize the processing of their visa applications. As the number of applications has steadily decreased in recent weeks, priority processing will be discontinued on May 12, 2023. After the increased processing times for other permit applications in recent weeks, it is, therefore, expected that these can be processed more quickly again.
