The Cambodian Government has been finalizing a draft competition law, which was expected to be submitted to the Council of Ministers of Cambodia prior to the end of 2013. As of yet, there have been no updates as to whether the law has progressed past that point. Given the looming 2015 ASEAN deadline for members to have competition laws in place, and Cambodia's progress in legislative reform in a number of other important commercial areas, it is widely expected that the competition law will be passed this year.
Further, given the Cambodian government's willingness to work with a number of international organizations in developing its legislative reform agenda, it is likely that the new competition law will feature prohibitions in forms familiar to international businesses.
