Position
Justin is widely recognised as a leading barrister in chancery and commercial litigation. He handles complex property, commercial, insolvency, partnership, company, shareholder and private client disputes, together with related professional negligence actions. His clients include public bodies, banks, retailers, investment funds, landlords, developers, shareholders, directors, office holders as well as high-net-worth individuals. He accepts offshore instructions and is a fully qualified arbitrator.
Justin appears regularly in the Upper Tribunal, Business & Property Courts and Court of Appeal. In 2022, he successfully argued an appeal before the Supreme Court concerning property rights and the statutory interpretation of the Digital Economy Act 2017.
Justin has been ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners Guide as a leading London barrister in several practice areas. Recent editions remark on him handling “some of the most complex cases,” having “an unparalleled eye for detail”, and being “very good at getting to the heart of the issues and plotting a course through particularly thorny matters”. He is recommended as “a formidable trial barrister”, “devastatingly effective”, and “very charming.”
In 1998 and 1999, Justin was the recipient of the prestigious David Karmel and Prince of Wales Scholarships from Gray’s Inn. He is a former chairman of the Young Bar, sits on the Chancery Bar’s committee, and a member of the Property and Professional Negligence Bar Associations, Yorkshire Pro-Bono and R3 (Insolvency).
