Urmila is one of exceptionally few dual practising Doctors and Barristers in the country. She maintains an active practice in both disciplines, utilising her clinical background to enhance her legal work.

Urmila has been a Doctor for 18 years and has worked in a variety of specialisms including internal General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Clinical Commissioning, Tropical Medicine and General Practice. She has attained a number of postgraduate medical qualifications, including becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. Her experience enables her to navigate clinical information with ease, giving enhanced, realistic and pragmatic advice to both lay and professional clients.

Urmila has a wide range of legal experience, advocating in the Magistrates, the County Courts and the High Court in her practice prior to joining Park Square Barristers.

Urmila has delivered talks to regional educational events, speaking about issues of testamentary capacity and has a keen interest in delivering training to Doctors and allied health professionals into common issues arising from inquests and clinical negligence claims. Urmila continues to enhance her own knowledge and has attained the Diploma in Legal Medicine throughout the currency of her legal career. She has a particular enthusiasm in Coronial Law, and has previously worked as a Medical Examiner, making her particularly qualified to practice within medical inquests.
