Maddy’s experience of the Criminal Justice System has been complemented by various mini pupillage and marshalling placements that she has undertaken. Additionally, she spent a number of weeks working as a debate coach with Vocalise in HMP Belmarsh, which improved both her advocacy skills and understanding of the prison system.

In this role, she supported individuals via an advice line and drafted bail applications and accommodation applications. She also volunteered for two years with the BPP Family Legal Advice clinic, first as an adviser and then a director, which honed her legal research skills.
