Work Department
Kate is a senior associate in our litigation and dispute resolution practice group. She is based in our Singapore office and specialises in international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law. She has acted for and advised States, State entities, private multinational companies and corporations on a broad spectrum of litigation and arbitration disputes.
Her recent experience includes:
advising an Asian State and its entity in two UNCITRAL ad hoc arbitrations on issues involving the termination of a concession agreement valued at over US$1billion; advising an African State in three investment treaty arbitrations under ICSID rules; advising an Indonesian/Indian joint venture company against an American contractor in an ICC arbitration in relation to a coal mining project in Indonesia; advising a global construction conglomerate headquartered in France in two construction arbitrations involving Singapore law. successfully acted for: an Indian conglomerate against an Austrian company in an ICC arbitration involving an aborted wind energy project in India; and a Malaysian company in challenging the jurisdiction of the arbitral tribunal in an ICC arbitration involving Qatari law.Kate frequently writes articles and has contributed a chapter to the book, Arbitration in Singapore: A Practical Guide (Sweet & Maxwell, 2014), which was edited by The Honourable The Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon.
Kate is qualified as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court in Singapore and as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
