Career
Greg is a partner in our corporate and commercial group. With over 10 years of experience in both private practice and in-house, he specialises in cross border M&A transactions, corporate and commercial, media and telecommunications law.
During the course of his experience Greg has drafted and negotiated various commercial agreements, advised on various mergers and acquisitions and other transactions in the corporate, property, telecommunications and IT sectors.
Greg started his legal career at a law firm in Johannesburg, where after he became in-house counsel for a top 4 global audit and advisory firm. Greg re-entered private practice where he focused on commercial and corporate law with specific focus in the telecoms sector. In 2013, Greg completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate law with a focus on Company, Competition and Banking and Finance law at the University of the Witwatersrand. More recently Greg has expanded his focus on other sectors in the corporate and commercial space.
Greg’s experience includes:
advising on the restructuring of the South African business operations of a multinational industrial client in terms of intra-group provisions provided in terms of the South African Income Tax Act; advising on a Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) transaction relating to the sale of various assets for ownership in terms of Statement 102 of South Africa Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment legislation; assisting a multinational client on the capitalisation of loans and intra-group lending; advising a multinational client in the diversified industrial sector on its local group simplification and reorganisation; advising a multinational diversified industrial client on its divestment of its South African operations to management; acting for a large multinational outsourcing company in the disposal of their South African Assets; acting for a large multinational IT services company in the 100% acquisition of a BCM & DR entity in South Africa including obtaining Competition Commission merger approvals; acting for a large multinational in its acquisition of a South African group of companies (in excess of 30 companies) in the mining services sector.Languages
