José Roberto has been working in Intellectual Property since 2006, focusing on trademarks, technology transfer agreements, unfair competition, trade secrets, copyright, software, media and entertainment, digital law, domain names and disputes, advertising, and franchises. He has extensive experience in complex agreements, litigation, and proceedings before the Brazilian PTO. He provides strategic counsel to national and international companies in the protection, commercialization, monetization, and defense of intangible assets across various industries, including IT, media, marketing, food and beverage, insurance, automotive, entertainment, sports, and pharmaceuticals.

Certified as an Industrial Property Agent by the INPI in 2011;

Guest lecturer invited by the INPI to teach courses for new Trademark Examiners in 2017 and 2018;

Guest professor for the course Technology Transfer Agreements in the Professional Master’s Program of PROFNIT, UFRJ focal point, in 2018 and 2019;

Coordinator of the Study Committee on Copyright and Personality Rights for the 2026/2027 term at the ABPI;

Elected member of the Standing Committee on Copyright of the AIPPI;

Elected member of the Standing Committee on Piracy and Counterfeiting of the AIPPI;

Elected member for the 2022/2024 and 2025/2027 terms of the Special Committee on Industrial Property Law of the OAB/RJ;

Elected member for the 2024/2025 term of the Entertainment Law Working Committee of the ASIPI;

Elected member for the 2022/2023 term of the Franchising Working Committee of the ASIPI;

Elected member for the 2018/2019 term of the Enforcement Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA);

Coordinator of the Study Committee on International Law and Intellectual Property for the 2014/2015 term at the ABPI.

Holds a Bachelor of Laws from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2009), as well as graduate degrees in Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property Law from Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro (2011) and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2014), respectively. He also completed an MBA at Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro (2018) and a Master’s degree at Fundação Getulio Vargas (2022).
