Simon is a Partner in the Litigation and Insolvency team in the Mourant Cayman Islands office with extensive experience in insolvency and restructuring matters, valuation disputes and fraud and asset tracing. Simon is instructed by financial institutions in respect of the largest and most complex disputes currently before the Courts and is currently instructed in the SINA Corp appraisal case. In the last decade, Simon has acted in most of the major insolvency and restructuring matters including Madoff, Sphinx, and DD Growth and the Abraaj Group. He currently acts for the for creditors of the Direct Lending Income Fund and the liquidators of PetroSaudi International arising out of the IMDB fraud.

Nicholas is a Partner and the Local Practice Leader of the Litigation and Insolvency department in the Mourant Cayman Islands office. Nicholas joined Mourant in 2010 and has over 10 years' experience of litigation in the Cayman Islands and BVI. Nicholas has extensive experience in fraud and asset tracing, insolvency and financial services litigation, as well as regulatory matters.

Sara has significant experience with both Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands regulatory matters; including anti-money laundering, beneficial ownership, economic substance, regulation of Cayman funds and other vehicles, data protection and other evolving regulatory regimes, as well as licensing applications, inspections and enforcement matters. Prior to specialising in regulatory law, Sara's offshore practice focused on investment funds (both hedge funds and private equity), as well as general corporate law and structured finance transactions.

Christopher Harlowe

Christopher is a recognised expert in contentious and non-contentious insolvency, restructuring and recovery work. He acts for insolvency practitioners, lenders, distressed investors, security holders, directors, shareholders and all other stakeholders affected by financial distress.

Peter is a Partner in the Litigation team in the Mourant Cayman Islands office. He has practised with the firm in the Cayman Islands since the beginning of 2008. Over the last 15 years Peter has acted in many of the largest and most complex cases to be litigated in the Cayman Islands. He acts for the Algosaibi family in their on-going claims against Maan Al Sanea and his companies, successfully obtaining a US$2.5 billion judgment against Mr Al Sanea and settling certain claims. He also acts for the liquidators of the Madoff impacted Primeo fund, in successfully resolving litigation against the Trustee in New York and the Cayman Islands, the investment manager, the Herald feeder fund – where the Privy Council has found in favour of Primeo on both the creditor and shareholder distribution issues – and in the litigation against the administrator and custodian. Peter has acted in a number of precedent setting fund liquidations (including Lancelot, Belmont and Heriot), large fraud cases (including Madoff, Dynamic Decisions, Fletcher and Alpha Re) and high profile restructurings (including Arcapita, CEVA, Eircom, Ocean Rig and Tailored Brands). He is regularly instructed to make urgent applications to obtain interim relief and/or to appoint provisional liquidators/receivers. He also has experience of contentious regulatory matters, including pursuing judicial review proceedings to challenge MLAT and regulatory requests, and have advised on a number of crypto claims.

Finn is a Partner in our Cayman Islands Corporate and Finance practice, specialising in M&A and banking and finance transactions. He advises leading corporate banks and other financial institutions as well as private investment fund sponsors on Cayman Islands law aspects of asset-backed financings, structured financings, subscription credit facilities and leveraged buyout facilities.

Hayden Isbister

Hayden has significant experience advising a broad range of clients on the formation of all variations of investment funds as well as advising on private equity fund downstream transactions.Hayden's corporate and commercial experience includes advising on joint venture arrangements and other corporate deals, such as SPACs. He also has experience in structured finance transactions, including CLOs, and advising on fund finance, acquisition finance and general lending matters.

Alastair Lagrange

Alastair is Counsel in our Cayman Islands specialist Regulatory team, advising on anti-money laundering, sanctions, CRS, economic substance, beneficial ownership, data protection, inspections and remediation, licensing and registration applications, and FinTech and virtual assets. He also has significant experience in the establishment, restructuring, management and termination of investment funds, and in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, banking and finance, and corporate governance.

Neal is a Partner in the Mourant Cayman Islands office, specialising in all aspects of corporate work. He has over 20 years' experience advising clients on the establishment and restructuring of Cayman Islands hedge funds and private equity funds. I also represent fund sponsors in connection with seed-capital investments and represent institutional investors in connection with their investments in private funds. Neal's clients implement a broad variety of strategies and include some of the world's leading asset managers. Neal's wide-ranging corporate and commercial experience includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, SPACs, and Cayman Islands Stock Exchange listings.

Ramesh is a Partner in the Mourant Cayman Islands office, specialising in private equity, non-contentious restructuring and corporate finance transactions. He advises on corporate transactions relating to Cayman Islands entities (companies, partnerships, LLCs), such as take-overs/take-private, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholder/investor arrangements, injection of capital, return of funds to investors, SPACs and IPOs. In his non-contentious or consensual restructuring practice, Ramesh advises upon the myriad of options from the Cayman Islands restructuring toolkit, including: debt to equity swaps, golden share rights, participations, warrants, options, redemptions, repurchases, surrenders, contributions, amalgamations, de-mergers and anything else relevant to achieve the intended goal. On finance and security transactions, Ramesh advises upon the granting of valid security, perfection, enforcement of security, repo transactions, swap transactions and Cayman Islands legal opinions.

Jonathan Moffatt

Jonathan is a Partner in the Mourant Cayman Litigation practice, specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency. He has worked on the firm's most complex cases, including Primeo Fund's breach of contract claims against HSBC. He also acts in various liquidations and insolvency matters.

Chris is a Partner in our Cayman Islands Corporate and Finance team. He specialises in all aspects of corporate and finance work, with an emphasis on investment funds. Chris has significant experience advising a broad range of clients on the formation of all variations of investment funds as well as advising on private equity fund downstream transactions. His corporate and commercial experience includes advising on joint venture arrangements, secondary transactions, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and SPACs. He's also worked on numerous structured finance transactions and advised on fund finance, acquisition finance and general lending matters.

Catherine is a Partner and the Practice Leader of our Mourant Corporate team in its Cayman Islands office. She specialises in investment funds. Catherine regularly advises private equity sponsors, investment banks and investment managers on the structuring, formation, regulation and governance of investment fund structures (across a broad range of asset classes), their downstream transactions (including finance transactions) and exit mechanisms. She also advises institutional, strategic and seed investors in connection with their investments into investment funds. Catherine is regularly involved in the structuring and implementation of a wide range of corporate transactions, including SPACs, joint venture arrangements, acquisitions and corporate restructurings.

Hector Robinson KC

Hector is a Partner in the Mourant Cayman Islands Litigation practice group. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in February 2017. Recognised as a trusted adviser and first port of call for clients and intermediaries seeking Cayman Islands legal advice, Hector regularly appears as Leading Counsel before the Cayman Islands Grand Court and Court of Appeal. He has also appeared before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Hector's work focuses on advising and representing trustees, settlors and beneficiaries in complex cross-border trust and estate, regulatory, fraud and asset tracing, insolvency, contentious property and employment disputes. He speaks regularly at trust conferences and seminars, and has written articles for Solicitors Journal, New Law Journal, PLC Magazine and Private Client Business. Hector has been accepted on a number of occasions by federal and state courts in the USA as an expert on Cayman Islands law.

Rhiannon Williams

Rhiannon is Partner in the Mourant Cayman Corporate and Finance practice. She specialises in all areas of corporate, finance and commercial work, particularly investment funds. Rhiannon advises on joint venture arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, corporate governance and regulatory issues, as well as the establishment, management and restructuring of Cayman investment funds.
