‘We’ve been dealing with a matter for nearly 4 years and have got to know the team pretty well.. We are always able to contact them, even after hours and weekends. As the relationship has grown it is clear that we’re getting more value then we’re paying for in terms of billing and if anything, we find that the team find innovative ways of helping us that keep our costs to a minimum.’

‘Alex is excellent and even when we’ve been stressed with the direction or the numerous set backs, she has been able to help us to understand the legal situation, which is always more complex that we’d expect.

‘Emyr Kerfoot is an experienced commercial litigator who puts his client’s business needs first. He works hard to pursue his client’s case without issuing proceedings and fights the client’s corner once litigation is underway. He assembles a team of counsel and experts and ensures that the client gets a team working for them, not just individual professionals. Emyr is thriving in the relative freedom that Excello provides and clients like the directness and informality to be found outside more institutional firms.Alexandra Collett has an excellent reputation as a commercial litigator and gets to grips with disclosure, leaving the opposition with nowhere left to hide.’

Real estate > Commercial property: elsewhere in the East Midlands Tier 3

Richard Osborn is the key name for Excello Law in the Midlands; he was formerly regional office head at Weightmans LLP before moving to the new model law firm in mid-2019. Osborn has strong roots in the local market, serving as director of a number of business organisations in Leicester,  and his key clients include the University of Leicester. He is praised for combining 'the experience and deal knowledge of much bigger firms', with 'the partner-led service of a more niche practice'. The firm's commitment to the region was underlined by the launch of a new office in Leicester in January 2021.

‘Richard Osborn is an excellent lawyer, who is both technical and commercial. He provides the experience and deal knowledge of much bigger firms, but can provide the partner-led service of a more niche practice. I have been incredibly impressed with how he is able to problem solve and see routes through even the trickiest of legal issues. He is engaging, responsive and friendly to work with. I have also found him to be well connected and able to make introductions to other useful commercial contacts in other professional fields. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to other real estate investors and developers.’

‘I think very highly of Richard Osborn and Excello. They are very strong from a technical perspective but also commercial and solution-orientated. The thing that has particularly impressed me is how engaged and quick to respond Richard is. Nothing is too much trouble. This is certainly not the experience I have had with many other lawyers. I have found that Richard Osborn compares very favourably to the lawyers that we deal with at the large scale London and regional firms who specialise in real estate.’

‘The team know my organisation well and can advise me in a way that is relevant and proportionate to my needs.’

‘We have worked with Richard Osborn for eight years and followed him from a previous firm, as we have a very good relationship with him. Richard is very responsive and tenacious and has successfully helped us to complete asset and business transfers, revise leases and carry out conveyancing on our behalf. He is very professional, friendly and clearly hard-working.’

‘Richard Osborn has been incredibly supportive and never once have I felt that a question is too stupid or a worry too small.  He takes time to reassure in a way that is professional and positive.’

Employment > Senior executives Tier 4

Excello Law assists CEOs and other senior management clients with exit settlements and disputes, which often arise from a range of discriminations. The group also acts in High Court claims, injunctions and tribunal cases, and assists returning clients with contractual advice on subsequent employment. David Greenhalgh, who joined the team in May 2020, works in tandem with Hina Belitz. Both are highly regarded for providing clients with a clear plan of action, and the firm is praised as a ‘unique practice that provides clients with practical advice in a collaborative manner‘.

Other key lawyers:

Excello Law is a unique practice that provides clients with practical advice in a collaborative manner. David Greenhalgh is an exceptional lawyer who explicitly understands the assignment. David has detailed knowledge of Employment law matters and corporate culture that impact Senior Executives. Would not hesitate in recommending David.’

2020 was a very challenging period for me personally, which resulted in me personally having health issues, which was a direct result from how my previous employer behaved towards me.  Excello Law is unique as they were able to empathise with my situation, provide clear guidance and recommendations, and partnered with me on a case that lasted over 6 months. Their people/soft/collaboration skills stand out from the competition, I truly felt valued at a time I most needed to be.’

Personable. Approachable, understanding, flexible, measured, caring and great ability to listen, Hina Belitz is wonderful, she was a great support and comfort when I needed advice and my settlement ended with a good resolution. She was always composed,  compassionate, calm and considered.  She really did make a very difficult upsetting time a lot more bearable, her ability to listen and understand my situation and talk things through really helped my mental well-being and kept me sane in my hour of need.’

I worked with David Greenhalgh and he really is a fantastic lawyer.  He had detailed knowledge of the subject and took the time to help me when I needed it.  As I was worried about the potential fees, he ensured that he clarified the potential cost on the various steps before embarking on anything. I would most certainly reach out to him again if needed.

David Greenhalgh is a recent addition to Excello Law. David is a great guy to have fighting your corner. Practical clear advice. Always at the end of the phone and very responsive. I think particularly when looking for an employment lawyer I really want someone personable and straight talking that listens to you and tells you these are your options and how best to find a solution. Sometimes no action is even the right thing to do. I think David puts the interests of his clients first.

David Greenhalgh helped formulate a plan of how we were going to deal with the situation. He reviewed all relevant work policies quickly and we formulated a grievance. The process was long and drawn out but David checked in on me regularly and the outcome was that my grievance was upheld. It was a tough journey and having David on my side made a significant difference not only from the legal and HR perspectives but also from the perspective of someone who was able to talk me through the likely perspective of others.’

‘Sarah King is an exceptional employment law expert who has a unique ability to understand complex exec and commission renumeration frameworks upon first explanation, and is then able to unpick contracts to extract the maximum separation value for you.’
