TWM Solicitors LLP > The Legal 500 Rankings
‘A very impressive team overall. Approachable, pragmatic and attentive to detail in a refreshingly unfussy and undramatic manner. We were introduced to them whilst they acted for a bank with whom we were finalising funding. Their approach was very refreshing and straightforward whilst securing their clients interest and we decided that this was the sort of firm and the sort of people that we wanted to be representing us going forward. I’m pleased to say we have been very satisfied with that decision ever since. We’ve been very impressed at how having agreed the basic principles, they simply proceed to complete matters without endlessly “reinventing the wheel” or constantly referring back to us as the client for input that should be in their sphere not ours – unlike many previous experiences with other firms. To date on all development transactions where TWM have acted for us we have seen their role executed efficiently and quickly. Accordingly we look forward to working with them on future projects, from site acquisition, negotiating bank security documentation through to property sales, and have full confidence in the firm and the team.’
‘Simon Child heads up the team we deal with. Very calm, very effective and experienced in achieving resolution quickly and efficiently. Both a pleasure to work with and someone we have full confidence in to represent our interests.’
‘The team are very professional, efficient and responsive to requests. Always communicate their advice clearly in a way which is easily understood.’
‘I deal extensively with Claire Campbell who is always very professional, understands our requirements very well and is very persistent in putting forward our case.’

‘The entire team were very professional and helpful. Guy Perkins and his team were tenacious and offered me good advice and helped me to grasp the bigger picture. The accounts department were helpful especially as I’m based in Australia. The firm was recommended to me by a lawyer based in Sydney which is testament to them.’
‘The contentious trusts and probate team have always had high-quality work. A consistent theme is the excellent case preparation and thorough instructions to counsel. The members are also usually keen for in-person conferences at an early stage, which I find particularly helpful in order to put a case strategy in place.’
‘I became a client with TWM under very difficult and stressful circumstances due to the very sudden death of my partner. I was very impressed from the outset with the level of compassion and reassurance that I received from Guy Perkins and his team. Without the level of professionalism and genuine kindness I have been shown by TWM I believe that I would have found the last few years extremely stressful, which has not been the case. On the contrary whenever I may have sent an email of a rather nervous or worried character I have been responded to virtually the same day in a very helpful way. These comments also extend to the PA and junior trainees I have been helped by in my dealings with TWM.‘
Family: Kent, Surrey, Sussex Tier 2With offices in Guildford, Epsom and Reigate, TWM Solicitors LLP is home to an 'excellent calibre of partners and associates'. It undertakes matters involving cross-border assets, premarital assets, and TOLATA proceedings. The team is also active in handling cross-jurisdictional disputes involving children, including Children Act proceedings and Child Arrangement Orders. The teams also collaborate with their office in Wimbledon; practice head Sarah Cornes works across the Wimbledon and Reigate offices. Demelza Patricio is another key partner in Reigate, and is a collaborative lawyer with experience of acting for clients in FDRs. Caroline Keeley, who is also a mediator, is highly rated for 'getting impressive results for her clients.'
‘They have extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of family law. While many of the team are specialists in one particular area, for example, financial remedies, another member of the team is very strong on jurisdictional work and so on so there is an excellent spread of people with in-depth knowledge of particular areas.
‘Caroline Keeley remains particularly strong. She has had quite a few complicated financial remedy cases recently and her ability to get to grips with a very substantial amount of financial disclosure across a number of jurisdictions has been impressive. She has also had very demanding clients in those cases that other solicitors would struggle to keep up with but she has anticipated the issues along the way and got impressive results for her clients.’
‘Slick stand out firm in Surrey – one of the top (if not the top). Excellent calibre of partners and associates who are not only knowledgeable but have their client’s trust and confidence from the outset. Well respected, sound and strongly recommend.’
‘Demelza Patricio is an outstanding solicitor, thoroughly prepared, fights for her clients and is super sensible. I would not hesitate recommending her and the firm generally.’
‘A great regional firm which always goes the extra mile for their clients.’
‘They were brilliant at listening and taking on board all of my fears. They managed to drill down to what was important to present so expertly and I always felt supported and believed by them. They made no judgement on me and really tried to understand my unique situation.’
‘Caroline Keeley and her associates were particularly good at helping me particularly with keeping me grounded. Caroline was human and kind and genuinely understood. I felt that she was personally determined to help me out of the situation I found myself in. She believed me and gave me confidence despite the pressure I was being subjected to. My case was not a usual or straightforward one and she ensured they looked at all the detail and investigated appropriately and looked for people with knowledge of my situation in her company. She also sought out the most fantastic barrister who was also meticulous and kind and together with Caroline Keeley made me feel supported and protected. They fought and won for my son.’
‘I am retired so no longer use TWM for litigation but when I was working I always instructed them for repossession orders and did so for many years. They were efficient and professional, which is why I asked them for help when I was dealing with my father’s estate. I did not compare their quote with other firms. I trust them to do a good job for a fair price.’
‘My recent dealings were with David Lunn who was calmly professional. He explained everything in detail and dealt with all matters punctiliously and in a timely manner. I cannot compare him with competitors as this is the first probate I have had to deal with.’
‘A friendly, efficient service, with a pragmatic approach to dealing with clients’ matters.’
‘Allison Crossman has been very helpful in dealing with client’s affairs in an effective and efficient manner. She has also recognised areas where other professionals are best placed to assist the client (eg with tax matters) and is an excellent team builder.’
TWM Solicitors LLP acts in commercial litigation for a wide range of clients including not-for-profits, SMEs, and property developers. The practice is led by David Hitchcock, and Simon Brew joined the team in January 2019 from Fladgate LLP. Eileen Barry heads the Wimbledon office.
‘David Hitchcock is an experienced commercial litigator who clearly takes a great deal of care to provide the best possible service to his clients.’
‘Very close attention to detail; good client care; prompt and effective communication.’
‘The team has a commendably wide range of expertise. I’ve worked with members on matters ranging from freehold restrictive covenants to joint venture disputes. The members of the team have always provided excellent instructions and are user friendly. They are the standout firm in the area.’
‘I am always particularly impressed with David Hitchcock, who is now the head of the department. We have worked together on a number of real property related cases, which have proven to be factually and legally very complicated. He is simply brilliant to work with – he’s communicative, helpful and adds real value to the case. He’s also very good with clients.’
‘In general, the team are calm, relaxed and listens well. Other practices show obvious signs of looking for their next piece of business. This is not the case with TWM. Their fees and attitude to managing our expenditure is sincere and they demonstrate the utmost care for our business’ health. This instils trust and comfort with our business.’
‘I dealt with David Hitchock. A true gentleman whose care and diligence towards us shows through in every aspect of his dealings with us.’
‘They provide an excellent service at a competitive price.’

TWM Solicitors LLP handles matters including corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, and the management of business portfolios. The firm's client base is predominantly made up of family-owned or managed businesses, many of which are long-term clients. The team is led by Jamie Berry, who is experienced in providing long-term advise to start-ups. Peter Stevens is fluent in French and German; a highlight of 2019 was his work advising on a merger between a UK company and its French subsidiary. The practice is valued by clients for its 'specific, pragmatic and commercial application of the law'.
Other key lawyers:
‘The TWM team were excellent – it is a given that they know the law, however, what stood them apart from other legal practices was their specific, pragmatic and commercial application of the law to our deal – fighting the battles that were necessary and worth fighting.’
‘Jamie Berry was standout. Our deal involved a US Multinational acquirer with an advisory team that would have rivalled the number of extras in Ben-Hur! It involved necessary real time interaction with those advisers in different world-wide time zones so we were often working together out of hours and with a hierarchy of opposing solicitors in the UK and lawyers in the US – Jamie was side-by-side in the trenches with us and acted with professionalism, expertise, commerciality, pragmatism and humour. Looking back, he was an intrinsic part of our team and invaluable in securing the successful sale of our business.’
