Team Services
BTO’s core Property Litigation team has significant breadth of experience and expertise across all types of property litigation. The team principally acts for landowners, developers, commercial landlords, commercial tenants and registered social landlord clients.
It’s current property litigation caseload involves litigation in the Court of Session, the local sheriff courts, and the Lands Tribunal, as well as advising clients on alternative dispute resolution processes such as expert determination and arbitration.
The team shows great strength in depth across all contentious practice areas and is without obvious peer in the Scottish market. The core real estate litigation team can draw on the expertise of specialist property damage partners, (such as Solicitor Advocate Mark Morton and Angus Crawford, a qualified Mediator), as well as highly rated specialists across other areas which are business critical for clients operating in the property sector, such as health and safety and construction, including Partner Fraser Hopkins, an accredited construction law specialist.
Client testimonials
Stephen Joseph, CEO/COO, Ocean Outdoor
Will and his team at BTO were exceptional in our recent litigation case. Will’s ability to explain technical law issues and how they linked to the commercial aspects of the case was extremely helpful in formulating a strategy of how to move forward with the claim and counter claims.
His team were always quick to respond and helped source experts in the field that were pivotal to our negotiating position and the eventual positive outcome.
He did not hesitate to proceed on the mediation route we deduced upon despite the fee income potential being far greater if we hadn’t. The impartial advice when we had to make a critical decision was extremely valuable.
I would recommend Will to anyone who was seeking to litigate in Scotland.
