Position
Ng Wai King is the Chairman and Senior Partner of WongPartnership.
Career
Wai King currently serves as a director on the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Board of Trustees of the National University of Singapore and the Senate of the Academy of Law, amongst some of the roles that he has outside the Firm. He has also served as an independent director of the Singapore Exchange and a director of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Wai King graduated from the National University of Singapore where he was awarded the AV Winslow Prize, and obtained a LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law where he graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
As one of the 10 winners of the Financial Times: Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Outstanding Individuals Awards 2016, Wai King is widely recognised as a leading M&A and Private Equity lawyer in Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500, Who's Who Legal, IFLR1000, asialaw and Expert Guides. Wai King is described as " one of the best M&A lawyers in Singapore" for being "very sharp, commercial and very user-friendly". He is also said to be an “invaluable adviser to have on your side". Clients have also praised him for his leadership in training "a strong team of lawyers to lead M&A transactions".

Significant transactions that Wai King has been involved in include advising / acting for the following:
Keppel Corporation in the combination of Keppel Offshore & Marine business with Sembcorp Marine for an acquisition consideration of approximately S$4.5 billion. CLA Real Estate Holdings Pte. Ltd. in connection with the S$21 billion restructuring of CapitaLand to demerge the investment management business and privatise the development arm. Scheme of arrangements involving (a) The managers of Ascendas Hospitality Trust in the combination with Ascott Residence Trust by way of a trust scheme of arrangement to form the largest hospitality trust in the Asia-Pacific and the eighth biggest globally, with a total asset value of S$7.6 billion; (b) Frasers Commercial Asset Management Ltd. as manager of Frasers Commercial Trust in the merger of Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust (now known as Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust) and Frasers Commercial Trust by way of a trust scheme of arrangement worth S$1.54 billion. Nesta Investment Holdings Limited, which is controlled by a consortium comprising HOPU Logistics Investment Management Co., Ltd., Hillhouse Capital Logistics Management, Ltd., SMG Eastern Limited (an entity wholly owned by the CEO of Global Logistics Properties), Bank of China Group Investment Limited and Vanke Real Estate (Hong Kong) Company Limited, in the acquisition of Global Logistic Properties Limited for approximately S$16 billion by way of a scheme of arrangement. This deal was awarded "Deal of the Year" and "Best Leveraged Finance Deal" at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards, 2017, "M&A Deal of the Year: South East Asia" at The Asian Lawyer's Asia Legal Awards 2018, and M&A Deal of the Year (Premium) at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards, 2018. As Singapore counsel to Walmart Inc. in its acquisition of a 77% stake in Flipkart for US$16 billion. This deal won Deal of the Year - Best M&A Deal and Best India Deal at the FinanceAsia Awards 2018. TCC Assets and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (a company listed on the Singapore Exchange) on a successful takeover offer for Fraser & Neave, Limited ("F&N"), fending off a competing offer by another party. The offer valued F&N at approximately S$13.8 billion and the transaction was awarded "M&A Deal of the Year" for both South East Asia and Singapore, as well as "SE Asia Deal of the Year" at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2014; and "Best M&A Deal" at the IFLR Asia Awards 2014.Publications:
