Diversity
Diversity & inclusion
Porter Dodson has a clear commitment to promote diversity and inclusion in all our professional dealings, both internally and externally. We recognise that the success of our business depends upon our people. We believe that capitalising on what is unique about individuals, and drawing on their different perspectives and experiences, will add value to our firm.
Our policies aim to promote equality of opportunity for all, and to deliver a workplace where people are treated with dignity and respect, valued for who they are and the contribution they make to the organisation. We strive to provide rewarding careers and in return we enjoy a high degree of staff loyalty.
In 2025 we were awarded the prestigious Gold Investors in People accreditation for the fourth consecutive time, reaffirming our longstanding commitment to excellence in people management and development. Read more
Community
Whatever we do we know that there is an effect on or interrelation with our local community and we embrace that close relationship. Our policies aim to maximise the benefits for local communities from our activities.
We are involved in many local events, such as The Taunton Flower Show and Sherborne Abbey Festival, as well as the local Agricultural Shows. We also sponsor and support numerous Business and Community Awards. Since 2013, we have taken part in the Somerset Chamber Business Awards.
Our business depends on, and thrives in, the communities which surround our offices. We make it our business to work with local organisations to support local projects and volunteer or raise funds for good causes. Each of our offices chooses a charity of the year which has local relevance to it. Fundraising activities happen through the year and our people take part in major organised events such as Taunton Half Marathon, Yeovil Half Marathon, Great West Run.
Many of us are involved with the running of local charities and other community groups, including Round Table and Rotary clubs. Similarly, we work closely with local schools, talking to students, helping with business and careers projects, as well as advising the leadership teams. We are also actively involved in local business groups, such as the Chambers of Commerce and the South West Business Council. We are passionate about encouraging our people to engage with and gain a rounded experience of the community around them, and to help to promote commercial activity.
